El sitio "La Casa de las Golondrinas" (ubicado entre San Miguel Dueñas y Ciudad
Vieja, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala), ha sido investigado recientemente por CEMYK en
las temporadas 2018 a 2020 y ahora es conocido por sus mas de 400 pinturas rupestres. Los resultados d e las investigaciones revelaron q u e u n a roca tallada funcionaba e n calidad d e "observatorio para marcar al trayectoria solar, siendoun antiguo complejo astronómico. Además, en otra área del sitio, los antiguos plasmaron un mapa estelar que incluye las constelaciones desde el Polo Norte hasta el Polo Sur, lo que no llegaron a identificar los antiguos astrónomos en ninguna otra parte del mundo

Resumen del libro de "La Casa de las Golondrinas en Guatemala" publicado en la Revista D Prensa Libre. La publicación de este descubrimiento de un mapa estelar que refleja ambos hemisferios del cielo estrellado ha sido traducida a 4 idiomas mayas. La ubicación y morfología de cada imagen en un fragmento de la superficie rocosa de "La Casa de las Golondrinas" representa de manera sorprendente las constelaciones de ambos hemisferios del cielo estrellado: el norte y el sur. Se identificaron las constelaciones de Orión, Casiopea, Pléyades, Can Mayor, la Pequeña Nube de Magallanes, etc., pero lo más importante: los polos norte y sur. Este es el primer y hasta ahora único caso en el mundo en el que un mapa estelar completo está representado en el arte rupestre, es una imagen del cielo estrellado, un planisferio preciso creado hace unos 5 mil años a.C. por un antiguo astrónomo mesoamericano.

El documento fue encontrado casualmente por Juan Gavarrete en 1844 ó 45, según explicó en su "Advertencia del editor", cuando "se halaba ocupado en arreglar" el archivo del Convento de San Francisco de al ciudad de Guatemala, por disposición del Arzobispo Francisco García Peláez! Gavarrete, entonces muy joven, era notario eclesiástico y aficio- nado a las cuestiones históricas, de ahí el encargo que le hiciera el prelado, luego de los pro- blemas que habían tenido los conventos de religiosos, tras al exclaustración y expulsión de las órdenes religiosas en 1829-30. Se descaba devolver su archivo a los franciscanos y demás órdenes, los cuales se hallaban "hacinados todos confusamente en uno de los salones del Palacio Arzobispal desde al revolución de 1829"
